Still Have Questions?

Thinking of making the switch to BioPak? We understand if you’ve still got a few questions about our sustainable packaging. We’ve answered some of our most common questions here.

How do I know if a packaging product is recyclable in Australia?

The Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) has launched The Australasian Recycling Label (ARL) Program – an on-pack labelling scheme to help you understand if an item can or cannot be recycled in Australia and which bin it should placed in. Go to their website to check what can be recycled.

Under the new plastic bans in Australia, can I switch to any item that claims to be compostable?

Each state and territory in Australia and New Zealand has different single-use plastic ban guidelines. Check our Plastic Bans guide to see which compostable items are allowed as alternatives in your local area.

When a compostable item is allowed as an alternative, it should be certified by the Australian BioPlastic Association (ABA). ABA is the local accreditation body and is the only source of truth to ensure products are certified to AU and NZ standards. Their website has a list of companies and products that are certified. If a product is not on this list, it’s not certified compostable in Australia and New Zealand.

How do I know if packaging is created from responsibly sourced materials?

Look for proof through certifications and supply chain transparency. At BioPak, our manufacturing partners must meet stringent quality, social, and environmental standards.
  • The majority of our manufacturing partners' facilities are certified to ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, and two are in the process of achieving certifications.
  • We’re B Corp certified, which means we’ve met verified higher levels of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
  • An FSC™ certification on our wood and paper products makes sure our wood is sourced from responsibly managed forests.

How does BioPak offer free marketing and design services?

If you need co-branded flyers or help to create a customised presentation, our experienced PR, design and marketing teams can help. Plus, this is a great way to leverage the BioPak brand and build credibility in the market.

If I partner with BioPak, who will be my go-to person for support?

We have dedicated state-based account managers so you have access to information and support when needed.

Who do you collaborate with to invest in new technology and materials?

We’re committed to constant research and development to find better, more sustainable ways of doing things. But we can’t do it alone. We partner with industry, government, customers and consumers.
